County: Pay is all contract driven

While Butler County commissioners are freezing pay increases and promotions for county employees, fearing pay is excessive (read the story here), human resource directors in county departments say it’s all in the union contract (read that story here).

Not to pick on Environmental Services, but I also have the pay histories for employees in that department. They’re posted below as pdfs in alphabetical order. Any thoughts on these?

Hard to say, 6% yearly raises must be nice. Private sector gets 3%. Depends on qualification / Job Role to see if salaries are justified. I’d hope they have more than a High School Education.

now check into all the good old boys driving the county cars home at nite and all the gas we pay for them to drive home or to stop at the stores or go shopping for gifts and beer also all the taxes the good old boys said we needed to keep the county going and we let them take are money again for the county workers not what the good old boys said the money was for can i have a job now i will work hard for the people of this county and only work for $16.00 per hour and live good on that thanks

hey jolly boy you said you do not want to lose workers if you do all you and chuck boy will do is hire you bothers friend who is married to your sister boys wife or your drinking buddy sister or brother ,why would the county worker leave .

A quick glance indicates that overall, pay raises are excessive as a whole. And, in regard to providing union rates to non-represented employees, extremely so. Yet another reason to merge all HR control under the county. And, sorry but the Mercer study seems rich compared to my experience, and of the numerous large and small companies that I’ve intereacted with over the years too(does it exclude promotions in those figures as it would skew all higher?). Also, please share attrition rates for BCES and other departments if available, including individual benefit costs, retirement contributions and payouts that a typical employee would receive. Please keep digging as it’s nice to see all of the county’s little secrets get out. Clearly, they’ve been left on their own for far too long.

I would love to see the Prosecutor’s Office pay raises. That would be interesting, considering the prosecutor’s wife makes over $48K as an aministrative assistant in her second year with the Board of Elections!

I want to see the salaries at the Sheriff’s Office. Who controls the salaries there?

all the talk about county pay. the good old boys like it because it takes away from kay the banker rogers and the dynus boys

I’m sending my girl up to BCDES tomorrow to apply for a job as a secretary. Is anyone else disturbed by how much these ladies make? T. McCarty (dated Furmon’s son) got over 31% raise in one year. Must be nice to get paid that kind of money for answering phones. 2004 was a good year to be a secretary according to the raise percentages for the ladies that year.
