Wiseman passed over for judge appointment

Hot Topics

WASHINGTON — Ohio’s two U.S. senators have asked President Barack Obama to send a Cincinnati-based magistrate judge to the federal bench.

What Wiseman does in his personal time is no one's business? Just who are you trying to kid? Everytime the activitist judge's mouth opens the word "lesbian" comes roaring out, from campaign literature to debates. Fine. Shout it from the rooftops, if you want. Wiseman's car even proclaims it on the bumpersticker. Now just don't complain where all this has got this flaming example of homosexual extremism.

To what a crock:
My rants, as you call them, can be backed up by researching the decisions of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. There you will find volumes of decisions that support the notion that judges use the bench to further their agenda. My disdain is for judges that think imposing their views on society is the right thing to do.

William: Your rants and observations are all spoken in generalities. It is apparent your disdain for homosexuals. You just run at the mouth with no justifiable facts to support your rhetoric. You are pathethic.
what a crock

For all you heterophobes, the days of your "victim" status will soon cease to exist. The simple fact is ALL activists judges taint their decisions on their perceived opinions that a class or race of people are or have been "unfairly" treated and use their position on the bench to "right" those "wrongs" by using "compassion and empathy" Those traits have no place on the bench. Apply the law, not your emotions or "feelings". You want to be an activist, fine, but don't do it from the bench.

I never believed "justice was blind.' What about the racist judges on the bench that continue to show unfair sentencing practices among minorities (namely, Blacks and Hispanics and people who live in poverty).

The game is electing people to support/protect interest. Everyone does this, but minorities because they don't know how the game is played, and have limited economic/social interest to protect as a whole (so they have been tricked into believing).

Again, keep going Mary Wiseman!

Judge Wiseman is a great assest to this area! We are lucky to have her on the bench. Anyone who brings up her relationship is just afraid or homophobic. What she does in her personal time is just that, personal! And Judge Price? Come on! You must work for her, she's terrible. Nice lady, terrible judge. Judge Wiseman will have her day soon, just watch, her accolades will not go unnoticed. Those of you homophobes out there are pathetic. What have you done for your community lately?

How amusing that none of these commentators bother to provide the public with the alleged case numbers or defendant's names. Perhaps your stories would be more credible if your facts could be verified.

Mary Wiseman is a fine judge and her record shows it. You homophobes just nauseate me.
what a crock

The long and the short of it: Wiseman is a homosexual activist, through and through, and would have legislated from the bench, of that there is no doubt. We do not need his kind on a bench with a lifetime appointment. Cheers to Senators Brown and Voinovich for letting sanity prevail this time.

I have the utmost respect for Judge Wiseman, both as a City Commissioner and as a Common Pleas Judge. I am not sure she has the experience yet for a Federal Appointment, but she, along with Judges Hall, Huffman, and Gorman are the most professional, fair and balanced you can get as judges...

She is only on the bench because she was appointed because of her sexual preference. Many others like Connie Price were more qualified at the time buy were passed over. Her record on sexual offenders is abysmal. Don't believe me, check the facts. Barry will get around to her or another like her before he is through many, many times. Justice is no longer blind, it has to see and enact the liberal agenda emphatically.
Check her sentencing record

She is too soft on sexual offenders just because of their sexual orientation. Recently she presided over a gay man who had sex with a 14 year old boy without his consent. Judge Wiseman gave him a five year probation. Another sexual offender, a heterosexual male was given a five year prison sentence. Both were first time offenders. See the disparity? Both were wrong in committing the crime. Obviously sexual orientation played a part there since Wiseman is gay, like her defendant.

I am glad she was passed over. There are far too many on the bench that are activists and long to write case law from the bench instead of applying the law as it is written. It's time to adjudicate with logic and law, not activism and empathy.

Mike Turner has nothing to do with the recommendation for this appointment. I am not a fan of Mayor McLin. But, I am glad we no longer have Turner as Mayor as he baited the community on gay right issues. I don't think Wiseman was the best candidate at this time for the federal post but she is a really good judge. I base that on the opinions of the lawyers who stand before here.

I happen to like the work of Mary Wiseman. As a City of Dayton commissioner, and as Montgomery County Common Pleas Court judge. Since she did not receive the federal judge appointment, I wouldn't mind seeing her run for congress!

in time she will make a good judge. It was a little premature for her to be elevated. Wouldn't you agree?

While the previous poster sounds very much tongue-in-cheek, it's nonetheless quite true that Mary Wiseman was only vaguely qualified for her present position when she took the bench. She's done quite well, given her comparative lack of experience, however I don't see how anyone would argue that she's experientially qualified for a Federal position. Its good Mike still does SOME decisionmaking locally, even though he's unfortunately no longer mayor.

Everyone who was small minded and nasty to her owes her an apology. Sorry you were passed over, it would have been wonderful.

You have got to be kidding! It is 2009. Judge Wiseman has served the city well for many years. She deserves to advance.
