“It wasn’t ours so we gave it back to the township,” Westendorf said.
Franklin Twp. Administrator Traci Stivers said she would not be making any further comments on the matter when contacted today.
“I have no idea where it’s at,” said Beth Callahan, Franklin Twp. Trustees board president.
“If she (Stivers) accepted the transfer of the monument for the township, she never informed me as board president and did so without the authority of the board,” Callahan said.
Callahan, who is not running for re-election this fall, said she has received threats over the incident as well as calls from residents who are concerned about a previously-announced demonstration at the site by the Greater Dayton Chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice.
The organization has scheduled a demonstration for Saturday where the 90-year-old memorial previously stood.
As of 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Westendorf said no one has applied for an assembly permit for a demonstration there. He said if no permit is issued, any demonstration would be an illegal assembly.

According to the Facebook page promoting Saturday’s event called “Stand Against White Supremacy in Solidarity with Charlottesville,” 42 people said they were going with 233 people who said they were interested.
This news outlet reached out to the organization for comment but has not yet received a response.
