West Chester hires 6 part-time firefighters; seeks to add more

West Chester recently added six part-time firefighters/EMTs to fill vacant positions within the West Chester Fire Department.

The applicants hired were Christopher Benjamin, Colin Berter, Alden Burch, Luke Chapman, Brittney Goddard and Andrew Thieken.

“We are happy to welcome these individuals to the West Chester Fire Department as they embark on the first steps along the path to a potential career in the fulfilling field of emergency services and public safety,” Fire Chief Rick Prinz said in a release.

Part-time personnel are used to supplement West Chester’s core career staff of firefighters/EMTs in order to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of the community. The West Chester Fire Department continuously seeks excellent individuals for these positions, Prinz said.

West Chester Fire Department maintains a complement of 73 part-time firefighter/EMT positions and is always accepting applications. Part-time firefighters start at an hourly rate of $16.25 per hour.
