Two police investigations involving disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein are under review by the Los Angeles district attorney.

The cases stem from investigations by Beverly Hills police and were sent to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office Dec. 18. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the development Tuesday.

D.A.'s office spokesman Greg Risling issued a statement to USA Today on Tuesday: "Two cases have been presented to our office by the Beverly Hills Police Department regarding Mr. Weinstein and are under review."

Weinstein has been accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, by dozens of women, and allegations have been under investigation by law enforcement in Los Angeles, New York and London. Weinstein has denied any instances of non-consensual sex with the women who have accused him of misconduct.

The Hollywood Reporter says the investigations relate to allegations of sexual assault, but the D.A.'s office did not confirm that to USA Today. The district attorney can decide whether to file charges based on its review of police investigations.

Beverly Hills police in November confirmed the department was investigating complaints against Weinstein.

In a statement posted at the time on the department's Facebook page, Lt. Elisabeth Albanese said the department had "received multiple complaints involving Harvey Weinstein. The cases are under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time."
