TriHealth scales back, changes townships for Butler County development

TriHealth will locate a new medical center in West Chester Twp. instead of moving forward with an original plan for a larger development in Liberty Twp.

TriHealth originally contracted with project developer Miller-Valentine Group to purchase 33 acres at 8000 Liberty Way and develop the medical center there. But it has now switched locations across the street to West Chester Twp.

Plans have changed for the mixed use development that will also include retail space as well as a hotel, Brian Copfer, senior vice president of Miller-Valentine Group, confirmed during a public hearing Tuesday before West Chester Twp. trustees.

“We initially had the 90 acres just to the north in Liberty Twp. under contract to do a big development there and accommodate TriHealth there for a big campus,” he said. “It morphed into a smaller project so we moved the entire TriHealth use over (to West Chester Twp.).”

Copfer said TriHealth is still working on how the two medical office buildings will look.

The project also doesn’t have a hotel tenant yet, but he said the retail portion should fill up quickly.

Plans are to close on the property by the end of the year and begin construction as soon as possible, Copfer told trustees.

TriHealth opened Group Health West Chester, a medical office for the multi-specialty doctors group, in 2014 on Princeton Glendale Road West Chester Twp.

The Cincinnati-based health network also operates Bethesda Butler Hospital in Hamilton and McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
