Oktoberfest Zinzinnati breaks attendance record over weekend

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, already America’s largest Oktoberfest, set an attendance record this past weekend.

Officials said there were about 675,000 visitors, around 25,000 more than the previous three years according to police estimates.

"New experiences, longtime favorites, clear weather and a great site," said Jill P. Meyer, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and producer of the event, on why the attendance was higher.

This was the second year that the Oktoberfest was held on Second and Third Streets, rather than Fountain Square.

"Without question, the move to Second and Third streets has been a resounding success," said Cynthia Oxley, director of the event. "Quite clearly, Zinzinnati loves the new location and we look forward to 2018."

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati was first held in 1976.
