Homeless Butler County veterans to receive housing assistance

New federal funding for rental assistance and health services for homeless veterans in Butler County and Cincinnati is now available as part of a voucher program.

The Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program grant will fund housing assistance for approximately 26 veterans in the Cincinnati area, according to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.

Just over $19,000 was awarded to Clermont Metropolitan Housing Authority to provide assistance to veterans in Cincinnati and Butler County.

The amount will help approximately five veterans, according to Brown.

More than $116,000 in rental assistance was awarded to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority to provide case management and health services to homeless veterans in Cincinnati, according to Brown.

“Even one homeless veteran is too many,” Brown said. “Our veterans have earned our gratitude and we cannot stand by while some of them face life on the street.”
