Hamilton girls drop opener

Hamilton High School opened its girls basketball season by falling to Seton 55-43 on Saturday.

Seton did most of its damage from the free-throw line, shooting 25-of-37.

Jillian Spurlock led Hamilton with 27 points. She shot 9-of-23 from the field and was 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Savannah Conrad had five points, six rebounds and three asssists. Takyra Gilbert had four steals.

Marisa Meyer led Seton with 23. She was 9-of-12 from the foul line. Loretta Blaut scored 13.

Madison 58, Oakwood 22: Megan Miller scored 16 points to lead Madison to a win in the championship game of the Oakwood Invitational.

Miller made four 3-pointers. Olivia Philpot scored 15.

Courtney Eggleston led Oakwood with nine.

Fenwick 56, Jefferson 21: Leah Brubaker scored 16 to lead Fenwick. Morgan Stout scored 11. Each made one 3-pointer.

Miami Valley 48, Purcell Marian 32: Maria Englert scored 19 to lead Purcell Marian, which fell in its season opener.

Elea Karras led Miami Valley with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Princeton 78, Mercy 40: Kelsey Mitchell led Princeton with 38 points.

Lockland 37, Belmont 35: Alexis Rockwell scored 18 for Belmont, but Lockland held on to win its season opener.
