About Dayton

The Flyers have won four straight and have scored more than 80 points in their last three games, their longest such streak since 2007-08. … They’ve led at halftime of all 10 games this year. … Sanford has the longest streak of double-figure games on the team with four. He’s also fourth in the Atlantic 10 in foul shooting at 87.1 percent. … In his last three games, Oliver has averaged 11.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists. About Illinois State

The Redbirds were picked to finish second in the Missouri Valley Conference behind nationally ranked Creighton. They tested No. 5 Louisville on the road before losing, 69-66. They also fell in overtime to Northwestern in the South Padre (Texas) Invitational. Their other loss was to Wyoming, which was 10-0 going into Tuesday’s game with Denver. … First-year coach Dan Muller took over for Tim Jankovich, who left for SMU. … Carmichael was a second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference pick last season.

FYI

Illinois State has made four trips to the NIT in the last five years and was eliminated twice by Dayton. The Flyers won on the road in 2008, 55-48, and prevailed at home, 63-42, in 2010 on their way to the title.

“I’m really, really impressed by them. They have a terrific style of play for their personnel and maybe the best tandem of scorers we’ll see all year in Carmichael and Brown. Both are capable of getting 30. … It’s a high-powered offense coming in here. They’re going to be one of the better teams we face,” UD coach Archie Miller said.
