Hicks rejoins Longhorns

By Randy Riggs

Austin American-Statesman

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas football players Jordan Hicks and Case McCoy, suspended the day before the Dec. 29 Alamo Bowl, have been reinstated to the team, the Longhorns announced Sunday night.

Hicks, a junior linebacker from Lakota West High School, and McCoy, the junior backup quarterback, were suspended by coach Mack Brown for violating unspecified team rules. The suspensions came after media reports surfaced that two Texas players were the subject of a police investigation after a sexual assault complaint was made.

The lawyers for both players said Wednesday that San Antonio police had told them they had decided not to pursue the matter, but in a statement, the Police Department said it was continuing to review the case. The lawyers stood by their comments.

“Obviously when you break team rules there’s a certain amount of trust that has been broken, and that will be addressed with further discipline,” Brown said in a statement Sunday. “That discipline will be handled within the team.”
