Former CCS standout contributing for Lions

David Mann is off to an outstanding start for the College of Mount St. Joseph men’s basketball team this season.

The junior forward and Cincinnati Christian School graduate is the No. 2 scorer for the Lions with an 11.8 average, shooting 52.3 percent from the field, 48.3 percent from 3-point range and 91.7 percent from the foul line.

Mann is also averaging 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for MSJ, which is 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Junior guard Danny Lane (Ross) is playing 8.8 minutes per contest off the bench. He’s averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 boards per game.

The Mount travels to Wilmington today at 7:30 p.m.

Women’s basketball

Freshman guard Alyssa Grevenkamp (Lakota East) has played in five games off the bench for Findlay, averaging 16.6 minutes per contest.

Grevenkamp is averaging 4.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 rebounds per game for the Oilers, who are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They host Ferris State on Saturday at 3 p.m.

• Senior guard Tessa Elkins (Lakota West) has played in every game and made one start this season for Murray State (6-3), averaging 14.6 minutes per contest.

Elkins is notching 2.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for the Racers, who will host Alabama A&M on Sunday at noon. Murray begins Ohio Valley Conference play at home Dec. 31 against Eastern Kentucky.

Swimming

Urbana sophomore Alex Espinoza (Lakota East)was named male Swimmer of the Week by the Appalachian Swimming Conference on Dec. 5 for the second time this season.

In the Miami Invitational on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Espinoza swam in eight events and posted eight personal-best times. He set a school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.66 seconds.

The Blue Knights return to action at Ashland on Jan. 12.
