Rivertown Brewing announces Monroe taproom, barrel house opening date

Rivertown Brewing Company will open its new $6 million Butler County taproom, restaurant and barrel house this month.

The 31,600-square-foot facility at 6550 Hamilton-Lebanon Road is scheduled to open Jan. 20., according to Abby Hofrichter, the creativity and ideation lead for Rivertown.

“It’s been a crazy journey and seeing our team come together to make it happen has been nothing short of inspiring,” Lindsey Roeper, Rivertown’s “dream facilitator” and wife of founder Jason Roeper, said in a statement. “We’re so excited to share our space with everyone and look forward to all the shared ‘exBEERiences’ to come.”

The restaurant will feature a barbecue-inspired menu and the taproom will feature a 30-tap line-up including Rivertown and offerings from other area breweries. The taproom also will serve wine from Valley Vineyards in Morrow and liquor from StillWrights Distillery in Fairborn and Watershed Distillery in Columbus.

Restaurant and bar seating for the grand opening will take place on a first-come, first-serve basis with a waitlist. The interior of the taproom and restaurant can seat up to 208 guests.

The Monroe facility will host the the bulk of Rivertown’s production for distribution to seven states including Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Florida and Georgia. It also will host the company’s sour beer program, laboratory, business offices, 30-tap bar and restaurant with a 24-tap patio and two acre beer garden.

Rivertown Brewing Co. was founded in 2009 by Jason Roeper and his former partner. During its first year of production, the company produced approximately 1,200 barrels of beer. Since that time, Roeper has become sole proprietor of Rivertown, which produces nearly 15,000 barrels of beer annually with nearly 30,000 projected to be produced this year.

Rivertown announced plans to build the new facility in November 2015.

The bulk of Rivertown’s brewing is set to shift to the new facility starting in March, Hofrichter said. The Lockland location’s taproom and food space will remain open, Roeper said.

"The Monroe facility is truly the realization of Rivertown's dream," Hofrichter previously told this news outlet. "In this new production, taproom, restaurant and patio space, we will have the capability to grow our production well beyond 150,000 barrels a year, allowing us to better serve the seven states we are currently distributed in and look to future growth."

Rivertown opened its Lockland taproom in 2012 and spent the last few years growing — and eventually outgrowing — its barrel house, home of Rivertown’s in-house barbecue restaurant, taproom and arcade.

The company has dubbed the grand opening its “Dream Big, Dream Beer” moment and plans to include some fun activities and social media activities centered around the new Monroe mantra.

“’Dream Big, Dream Beer’ is about not only dreaming big but manifesting the belief that anything is possible and making it happen.“ Roeper said. “It’s all about hard work, purpose, excellence and tenacity.”
