Police ID Hamilton pedestrian fatally struck on Ohio 4 this morning

UPDATE @ 3:36 p.m.: Jimmy Morris Jr. died of multiple traumatic injuries, according to an autopsy by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

His death has been ruled an accident by the coroner’s office.

UPDATE @ 2:45 p.m.: The Hamilton man fatally struck by a vehicle this morning on Hamilton Middletown Road has been identified as Jimmy Morris Jr., according to the Fairfield Twp. Police Department.

Morris, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A 2005 Cadillac driven by 83-year-old Leonard Powell, of Liberty Twp., struck Morris at about 5:17 a.m. 

There is no reason to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to investigators.

The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) is investigating the fatal crash.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen pedestrians walking along Hamilton Middletown Road (Ohio 4) this morning or who were in the area to call them at 513-785-1463.

UPDATE @ 11:40 a.m.: 

A 911 caller says a pedestrian that was killed early this morning was still breathing after walking out in front of a car on Hamilton Middletown Road (Ohio 4) .

Donald Crain called 911 after he came upon the scene near his home in the 2300 block of Hamilton Middletown Road (Ohio 4) shortly after 5 a.m.

“Wake up, buddy,” Crain is heard saying in the 911 call.

Crain then tells the dispatcher, “there has been an accident. Hurry up. There has been a man run over...”

According to Crain’s 911 call, the pedestrian walked out in front of the car.

“The man is lying in the middle of the road dying. We need a freaking ambulance out here now. The man is still breathing,” Crain told the dispatcher.

INITIAL REPORT:

A Hamilton man was killed in a pedestrian strike early Monday. 

Around 5:17 a.m., Fairfield Twp. police were called to the 2300 block of Hamilton Middletown Road (Ohio 4).

Investigation indicates an 83-year old male from Liberty Twp. was driving south on Ohio 4 when he struck the pedestrian. 

The 59-year old man from Hamilton died at the scene, police said. 

“There is no reason to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” said Douglas Lanier, acting chief of police.

The crash remains under investigation. 

Police ask for any witnesses that saw pedestrians in the area to call 513-785-1463.
