Pedestrian in fatal Butler County accident identified

The Butler County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by one, or possibly two vehicles, late Friday night.

Orville Dwayne Chrisman III, 47, of Middletown, died from multiple traumatic injuries, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Chrisman was trying to walk across Oxford State Road at about 1 a.m. and was struck and killed, possibly by two vehicles, according to Butler County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tony Dwyer.

Chrisman was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death has been ruled an accident.

According to a preliminary investigation by START, the county Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, Chrisman was crossing Oxford State Road from north to south, near Old Oxford State Road. He was struck by an eastbound vehicle whose driver stayed at the scene.

He was possibly hit by a second car, but the fatal incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed, Dwyer said.
