The Oxford Empty Bowls, which is a soup luncheon that benefits the Oxford Community Choice Pantry, will celebrate its 15th anniversary in Oxford this year. Empty Bowls has raised over $76,000 in the past 14 years for hunger relief in the Oxford community.

The Oxford Empty Bowls will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Oxford Community Arts Center, 10 S. College Ave.

At the luncheon, guests choose from a collection of bowls created, decorated and donated by Miami University and Talawanda students and Oxford-area potters. The bowls were created by students at Miami University Art Department’s “Saturday Art” program, McGuffey Montessori School art students, Talawanda High School art and ceramics students, Like Lokon and artists participating in the MU Scripps Gerontology Center’s “Opening Minds Through Art” program, and Butler County Recycling and Solid Waste’s “Recycled Sculpture Contest” works from Ridgeway Elementary School.

Bowls are then filled with their choice of soups made by local cooks. Luncheon guests then keep their bowls to use or display at home. Homemade bread and desserts, and beverages donated by area businesses will also be served.

Cost for adults is $10, and children 10 and younger may eat for free (bowl not included).
