TODAY’S MODERATOR: Cameras are just Big Brother?

Sharing more reader reactions to news that Dayton may bring back red-light and traffic cameras.

From Elaine Laino: "I am totally against the cameras. They seem to target the poor. I see them on Salem Avenue but not in Oakwood. Soon, there will be cameras everywhere, monitoring our every move. Walking across a street between corners? Ticket! It is just step 1. Similar to the seatbelt laws. They began with the promise that you wouldn't be given a ticket for noncompliance. Then, only if ticketed for another offense. Now, you can be ticketed only for the seatbelt and given a ticket if your passenger isn't wearing theirs.

MORE OPINION: What’s really brewing in the beer industry.

“If lights were designed to allow traffic flow, perhaps people wouldn’t speed as much. But then, where would the communities get their money from? Tickets generate a lot of capitol for cities.

"By the way, I am 60 and have had 2 speeding tickets my entire life. So my concern isn't about me getting a ticket, it's about the world being viewed on cameras 24/7 under false pretenses. Big Brother is watching!"
