FIRST REPORT 8/16/17

A Trenton man has been indicted by a Butler County grand jury in the death of his son in May.

Dorrico Dawaun Brown, 32, of West State Street, is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony child endangering after Dorrico Dawaun Brown Jr., age 1, died at Fort Hamilton Hospital on May 17, according to the indictment and the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

The one-year-old’s address is listed as the 700 block of Vidourek Drive in Hamilton on the coroner’s office report.

A man called 911 on May 17 from a residence on Vanderveer Street, according to Butler County Sheriff’s dispatchers.

“My son is just freezing cold and I don’t think he’s even breathing,” the man said to the dispatcher. “He was taking a nap and I came in here and he’s just cold.”

The dispatcher talked the man through giving CPR, but the boy was never revived.

A toxicology report on Brown Jr. from the coroner’s office indicates the child tested positive for opiates, benzodiazepines and antihistamines at the time of his death.

The charges were presented directly to the grand jury. A warrant for Brown’s arrest has been issued.

This news outlet is seeking additional information from the Hamilton Police Department about the incident.
