Picard sent to Syracuse

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Alexandre Picard to their American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.

Picard, sent down Saturday, was an emergency recall who made the trip to Atlanta on Thursday but was a healthy scratch.

The 24-year-old was the Blue Jackets' first-round pick — and the eighth overall — in the 2004 draft.
