DAYTON, Ohio — Dayton Mayor Rhine McLin says she thinks she lost a bid for a third term because voters simply chose change.
The Democrat was unseated Tuesday by Independent neighborhood activist Gary Leitzell (LYTE'-sul).
The 61-year-old McLin said Wednesday that she is not upset and is focusing on the next phase of her life. She says she is keeping her professional options open.
In the meantime, McLin plans to take a weeklong vacation and then finish up her term at City Hall. She says she believes she has made a difference for the city in the past eight years.
The 48-year-old Leitzell says he plans to move from speaking broadly about creating change in Dayton to laying out a plan to create jobs and improve the quality of life in neighborhoods.
