BATAVIA, Ohio — Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) has signed an executive order creating a new office and board tasked with streamlining various jobs policies and programs across the state.

The order signed Thursday during a visit to a Global Scrap Management facility in Batavia seeks to simplify a workforce development structure that consists of 77 programs across 13 state agencies.

The governor's office says the Office of Workforce Transformation will have an executive director reporting directly to Kasich, with a goal of "coordinating and aligning workforce policies, programs, and resources ... to improve effectiveness, efficiency and accountability."

The Executive Workforce Board will serve an advisory role to the office and the governor. It will be chaired by a business person and have up to 29 members, including several from various business sectors.
