DEKALB, Ill. — Tyler Storm scored 17 points off the bench and Northern Illinois won for only the third time this season, defeating Miami (Ohio) 62-59 Wednesday night.
The Huskies (3-19, 2-8 Mid-American), who snapped a six-game losing streak, trailed by 10 points midway through the second half before going on a 17-5 run to take a 58-56 lead on Aksel Bolin's 3-pointer with 2:30 left in the game.
Two free throws from Miami's Quentin Rollins tied it back up before a Stian Berg layup put Northern Illinois ahead 60-58 with 39 seconds left. Julian Mavunga made 1 of 2 free throws with 3 seconds left to make it a one-point game, but Berg hit two more free throws with 2 seconds remaining to close it out.
Mavunga and Jon Harris led Miami (7-15, 3-7) with 15 points each, Rollins had 12 and Drew McGhee 11.
Bolin added 12 points and Berg 11 for Northern Illinois.
