CLEVELAND — A man who spent two decades on Ohio's death row before being released is suing the state and a county prosecutor for wrongful imprisonment.

The Plain Dealer in Cleveland (http://bit.ly/zVCLaZ ) reports that former inmate Joe D'Ambrosio is seeking money for lost wages as well as compensation for being wrongly imprisoned.

He spent more than 21 years behind bars after being convicted of murder in Cleveland. He was released in 2009 after a federal judge ruled that prosecutors failed to provide evidence that could have exonerated him.

Prosecutors still don't think D'Ambrosio is innocent and are likely to contest the suit that could net D'Ambrosio more than $1 million.

The suit comes just weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision preventing prosecutors from pursuing another trial against D'Ambrosio.
