Two injured in Hanover Twp. crash

By Lauren Pack

HANOVER TWP —

A two-vehicle crash in Hanover Township today sent two men to the hospital.

Herbert Chasteen, 84, of Lanes Mill Road, was traveling north on Lanes Mill at about noon when his car collided at the intersection of Stillwell-Beckett Road with a vehicle driven by Daryle Heck, 47, of Bunker Hill Woods Road, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

The initial investigation indicates Chasteen apparently failed to yield to crossing traffic and entered the intersection directly into the path of Heck’s westbound vehicle. After colliding, both vehicles traveled off the road and into a field.

Chasteen was transported by medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Hospital. Heck was transported by emergency squad to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
