MAUMEE — Thursday’s stop in Maumee was the first stop on Obama’s first bus tour of the 2012 campaign. He also stopped in Sandusky and the Cleveland suburb of Parma. Today, he’ll be in the Youngstown area and Pennsylvania.

In a one-on-one interview with WHIO-TV, Obama revealed his strategy to again capture a majority of votes in Ohio.

“My plan to win Ohio is to communicate to voters what the choice is,” Obama said.

During the interview, Obama also outlined his plans to support manufacturing in Ohio and what role a resurgence of industrial jobs could play in the state’s economic future.

On military budget cuts, the president was asked about the likelihood of another round of Base Realignment and Closure. He acknowledged that Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is crucial to the Miami Valley economy, but added cuts in the military budget overall must be made.

WHIO-TV will feature excerpts from the interview throughout the day today and have extended coverage on News Center 7 beginning at 5 p.m.

When Gov. Romney returns to Ohio, WHIO-TV plans to also sit down with him and talk about issues impacting the region.
