“The Second Dynasty” tells the story of the Middletown High School basketball teams from 1946 to 1957, which earned seven state titles and experienced a 76-game winning streak. Author Richard Paul Jones spent 3-1/2 years researching the dynastic era that helped earn the city the Basketball Capital of Ohio.
The book costs $19.99 for the paperback and $28.99 for the hardback.
About the author
Richard Paul Jones grew up in Dayton and became a Middies fan in 1944 after seeing the team beat Dayton Kiser 50-7 at the Fairground Coliseum. He earned a bachelor’s of arts from the University of Minnesota and worked in the business world before turning to writing. He began as a sports writer before he began writing short stories. He won nine Georgia Writers monthly contests in 2010 and decided to write full-length books.
Pigskin Roundball Spectacular
The annual Pigskin Roundball Spectacular will feature three former Middies: NBA legend Jerry Lucas; newly named NFL Hall of Famer wide receive Cris Carter; and Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison.
The Spectacular is set to begin at 5 p.m with a reception and silent auction for May 7 at the Manor House, 7440 Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the program is set for 6:30 p.m.
