Police reports: Government cell phone reported stolen

Feb. 18

Catalytic converters were stolen from three vehicles while they were parked overnight Feb. 15 at RZ Auto Sales, 3201 Dixie Highway.

About $2,000 in copper wiring and tubing were stolen between Feb. 8 and Feb. 18 from a house in the 200 block of South B Street.

A stereo/television unit was stolen and the dashboard was damaged after someone broke out the driver’s side window of a car while it was parked overnight in the 3800 block of Pleasant Avenue.

A vehicle was ransacked but nothing was stolen while it was parked overnight Feb. 16 in the 700 block of Hayes Avenue.

Several types of prescription medications were stolen between 3 a.m. and 1 p.m. Feb. 10 from an apartment in the 100 block of Knapp Drive.

Feb. 19

A woman reported that someone threatened to shoot her with a gun between 9:30 and 10 p.m. in the 0 to 100 block of Chestnut Drive.

Between 9:30 and 10 p.m., a resident in the 0 to 100 block of Petty Drive told police that someone threatened to kill him and his family.

An assault was reported about 8 p.m. near Eighth and Ludlow streets.

A person told police she was struck in the forehead with a cut bottle during a verbal altercation about 5:50 p.m. in the 500 block of North Seventh Street.

A person was arrested after attempting to steal three packages of clothes detergent between 4:30 and 5 p.m. at the Kroger store, 1450 S. Erie Highway.

Between 3:30 and 4 p.m., a person who said she was a nurse from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office went into a home in the 400 block of North Third Street and demanded to see the resident’s medications. The resident said the woman went further into the house and found a money box containing $50 and personal checks, then took it and left the house.

Six bottles of whiskey, with a total value of $200, were stolen between 2 and 5 p.m. from the Classic Rock Cafe, 233 S. B St. The suspect was confronted and agreed to return the stolen property.

A cell phone was stolen between 5 and 7 p.m. in the 500 block of Heaton Street after the owner allowed to let someone use it to make a call.

Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone stole a Rumpke trash can that was sitting in a driveway in the 500 block of Main Street.

Scrap metal and a washer were stolen between 9 a.m. and noon from the side of a house in the 200 block of South C Street.

A Rumpke trash bin was stolen overnight Feb. 18 from a driveway in the 600 block of Dick Avenue.

A person reported being punched in the face during an assault about 3:40 p.m. in the 0 to 100 block of Starr Avenue.

A temporary license plate was taken and ripped into pieces between 7 and 8 a.m. from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Buckeye Street.

A government cell phone was reported stolen about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in the 1300 block of Central Avenue.

Sometime between March 2012 and Feb. 19, a person forged the name on a motorcycle title that belonged to a resident in the 100 block of Chestnut Street.

A person used a taxi cab for a ride to the 1000 block of Franklin Street about 2:30 a.m. The person then fled on foot and did not pay the $16.19 fare.

Someone entered a vehicle and stole five quarts of motor oil, $3 in change and about $200 in compact discs while it was parked overnight Feb. 14 in the 2500 block of Freeman Avenue. Cuts were also found on the vehicle’s console.

Two juveniles were arrested after being seen concealing various electronic items and trying to leave the Walmart store, 1505 Main St., without paying for the items.

Someone stole $300 from a locked closet between 2:45 and 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of North Sixth Street.

A front door was kicked in between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. in which the contents of a jewelry box was stolen from the 0 to 100 block of Beverly Drive.

Feb. 20

A resident in the 0 to 100 block of Mary Elaine Drive told police she was notified by the Internal Revenue Service that someone used her Social Security number to try and file a fraudulent 2011 tax return. However, the victim had already filed her 2011 tax return so the IRS did not process the form.

A customer told police that she had deposited a check at the First Financial Bank, 2344 Dixie Highway, between 10:50 and 11:15 a.m. Feb. 19 and forgotten she had another check to deposit. She she forgot to put her wallet back in her purse and the customer behind her took it off the counter. The wallet contained personal identification, a debit card and four credit cards.

Between Feb. 11 and Feb. 15, someone took a Pennsylvania driver’s license and a debit/credit card from the glove box of a vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of North B Street. The suspect then made unauthorized purchases with the debit/credit card that totalled $1,782.
