Police reports: 2 attempt to steal digital cameras, compressed air

Jan. 15

Three pieces of jewelry and a Nintendo game system were stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. from a residence in the 700 block of Stafford Drive.

A checkbook was stolen and two of the checks were were written for $150 and $110 respectively, between Jan. 3 and Jan. 12 from a residence in the 300 block of Wayne Avenue.

A Rumpke trash can was stolen overnight Jan. 11 from a residence in the 100 block of Progress Avenue.

A table saw and miscellaneous tools were stolen before 9:30 p.m. after a break-in of a garage in the 100 block of Progress Avenue.

A side door to a garage was broken in around 10:35 p.m. in the 300 block of Haldimand Avenue.

Jan. 16

An Android tablet was stolen between Jan. 11 and Jan. 13 out of a bookbag at Hamilton High School, 1165 Eaton Ave.

Two people were seen trying to conceal two digital cameras and some compressed air and leave without paying about 12:20 p.m. at the Walmart store, 1505 Main St. A juvenile was caught and arrested but the other person fled the store. The compressed air was recovered.

A laptop computer was purchased with a stolen credit card about 11:20 a.m. Jan. 15 from Superior Computer Services, 502 Main St.

A person entered the UHR Rents store, 2360 Dixie Highway, about 3 p.m. and took an Xbox 360 Kinect game system from the shelf and left the store without paying for it.

Between Jan. 8 and Jan. 15, someone broke the glass of a rear door window to enter a residence in the 300 block of South C Street to steal numerous feet of copper pipe in the basement.

A GPS device and a bookbag with miscellaneous school books and school supplies were stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked overnight in the 400 block of Cameron Place.

An assault was reported between 11 and 11:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Kahn Avenue.

A woman was arrested about 1 a.m. after she was seen putting in multiple types of make-up, baby wipes and shampoo into her purse and attempted to leave the Kroger store, 1450 S. Erie Blvd. The total value of the stolen items was listed at $220.

Two unknown people were reportedly shooting at each other about 4:51 p.m. in the 600 block of South Front Street. A woman told police that she heard glass break upstairs in her apartment in the 0 to 100 block of Chestnut Street. When she went to check, she found the window had been shot out. The woman called 911 and saw one suspect run west on Chestnut Street and the other running south on Front Street.
