FAIRFIELD —

A Cincinnati man will appear in Fairfield Municipal Court on Feb. 5 to answer charges that he brandished a weapon while intoxicated.

The charges stem from a Jan. 20 incident at Scotty’s Pub on 22 Donald Drive. According to a Fairfield police report, a bouncer who worked there, Terry Kelly, told officers that Anthony Ventura, 3o, threatened to shoot him and brandished a gun in his direction.

Officer Martin Morgan reported that Ventura was in a vehicle, and the officer was advised Ventura had a gun. The officer saw the driver grab something from his side and place it under the front seat. Two other officers arrived, but the driver ignored all commands, so officers approached the vehicle with weapons drawn.

The driver refused to get out of the car, so Morgan pulled him out, and all three officers pinned him to the ground. Ventura resisted and refused officers’ orders, so Morgan struck him repeatedly with a baton. Morgan also reported that he scraped his left knee in the struggle.

Officers located a .45-caliber Glock in the car, with a full magazine and one round in the chamber. Officers observed Ventura’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and he had a strong odor of alcohol. He told officers he had multiple guns “and was against gun control and President Obama,” according to the report.

Security officials at the bar told officers that Ventura got into an argument with another patron, and Ventura was escorted out. The police report states Ventura returned and brandished a gun.

Ventura was charged with OVI, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, aggravated menacing, using weapons while intoxicated and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. He was taken to Butler County Jail and released on $12,600 bond.
