Police blotter: Thrown futon causes damage

Sept. 28

Someone threw a futon into the street and causing it to be damaged about 10 a.m. in the 2400 block of Benninghofen Avenue.

Miscellaneous pieces of sheet metal, six industrial fan motors, six 2-foot by 10-inch stainless steel rings, a conveyor belt chain and an auger was stolen overnight from Coop’s Hauling, 408 Fallert Ave.

Metal Dumpster lid rods were taken from Dumpsters overnight from the Rent-A-Center, 1228 Main St.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took apart the dashboard to steal an AM/FM compact disc player, about 50 cents in pennies, and a 6-inch hunting knife from the vehicle while it was parked between 9 p.m. Sept. 27 and 3:40 p.m. Sept. 28 from the 1400 block of Parrish Avenue.

About $900 was charged to a bank card that was taken between 11:58 a.m. and 3:21 p.m. from an apartment in the 100 block of Smalley Boulevard.

A 2 1/2 ton central air conditioning unit, valued at $2,100, was stolen overnight Sept. 22 from a rear garage in the 1000 block of Hayes Avenue.

A pension check for $484 was stolen Sept. 26 from a mailbox at a residence in the 1600 block of Shuler Avenue.

A person was arrested for switching price tags from a $3.72 piece of meat for some Angus steak that was valued at $12.93 about 8:48 p.m. from the Kroger store, 1450 S. Erie Blvd. The suspect admitted placing the lower price label over the more expensive label while going through the U-Scan.

A battery was stolen from a truck sometime before 4 p.m. while it was parked in the alley behind a residence in the 1200 block of Vine Street.

While a person was incarcerated in the Butler County Jail between May 7 and Sept. 28, his apartment had been burglarized and $200 was taken from his checking account and a television and a white leather furniture set was stolen.
