Plan to develop luxury apartments halted

By Hannah Poturalski

WEST CHESTER TWP. —

A proposed residential community in the heart of downtown West Chester Twp. is being halted after the developer terminated its contract to purchase land.

Plans for the residential community — called the “Cascades at Union Centre” — were presented in October to West Chester Twp.’s zoning commission by the Cincinnati-based developer Capital Investment Group, Inc., according to township documents.

The residential development was slated to include approximately 180 units and some first-level retail space on three acres of land fronting Centre Pointe Drive, just south of The Square and West Chester Towne Centre.

Township officials were alerted of the change via email on Nov. 12.

“The representatives of Capital Investment Group have terminated their contract to purchase the land for the proposed ‘Cascades at Union Centre’ project,” wrote R. Todd Smith of Lexington Management Corp. “Based upon their termination of the contract, the land owner, Town Centre I LLC, withdraws its consent for any zoning change.”

Officials from Capital Investment Group were not available for comment.
