Fairfield man charged in fatal crash

FAIRFIELD —

Local police have released the identity of a Hamilton man killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday.

Robert D. Gilreath, 27, of Hamilton was the passenger in a pickup truck that reportedly crashed into the back of a semitrailer around 1:20 a.m. Sunday on Ohio 4, according to Fairfield police Sgt. Amy Mays.

Gilreath was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck — Zachary Kreke, 27, of Fairfield — was traveling south on Ohio 4 at Camelot Drive when he rear-ended a semitrailer also traveling southbound, Mays said.

Kreke was treated at University Hospital in Cincinnati, and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide upon his release, according to police. The driver of the semitrailer, Robert Harding, was not injured in the crash.

Mays said alcohol is considered a factor in the crash.
