HAMILTON —

A man wanted by police in connection a slaying early Friday morning in the parking lot of a Hamilton bar is behind bars.

Myron Lamar “Cowboy” Doby turned himself at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office late this Monday afternoon.

Doby, 54, of Front Street in Hamilton, is charged with murder for the fatal shooting of Donnell Holland at about 1:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the Grub Pub and Patio, according to Hamilton Police. He was also arrested on an unrelated warrant for trafficking in drugs.

Holland, 44, of Hamilton, was found fatally shot around 1:45 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of the of the Hancock Avenue bar.

Bar owner Lou Horsley told the JournalNews last week that he responded to the bar following the shooting.

“(Holland) never made it inside. There was an altercation outside,” Horsley said. “People inside didn’t know it happened until they heard popping sounds.”

Holland was a 1986 graduate of Hamilton High School, according to his Facebook profile. He was remembered Friday by friends as a caring assistant coach for Hamilton Little Blue Football.

Doby has more than 100 cases in Hamilton Municipal Court dating back to 1985 for traffic charges, drug charges, weapons violations, assault and robbery.

The homicide remains under investigation.
