Man charged with attempted murder in October shooting

By Denise G. Callahan

An 18-year-old Hamilton man faces a maximum of 19 years in prison if he is found guilty on attempted murder and felonious assault charges.

Rasean Akeem Harris, 70 Stephens St., apt. 6, allegedly shot Ronald Turner five times in the torso on Oct. 14 at 3 Hurm St., according to Assistant Prosecutor David Kash. Police were called to that address and found the 32-year-old victim, who was taken to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.

Police said they caught up to Harris the next day at 8:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Front Street. He was arrested on the felonious assault and aggravated robbery charges. The prosecutor’s office took the attempted murder charge directly to the grand jury. The grand jury did not approve the aggravated robbery charge.

Harris was arraigned in the Hamilton Municipal Court and bond was set at $100,000. He will be arraigned in common pleas court on Nov. 26. He remains in the Butler County Jail.

After the incident, police said Harris and Turner have had ongoing issues since the summer.

If Harris is found guilty, he faces three to 11 years in prison on the attempted murder charge and two to eight years on the felonious assault count, according to Kash.
