A man was injured in a one-vehicle crash in the 7400 block of Middletown-Germantown Road in Madison Twp.

Staff Report

MADISON TWP. —

Danny Henson was watching an episode of “Gunsmoke” on Tuesday evening when he heard a loud “bang” outside the front window of his home at 7481 Middletown-Germantown Road.

Initially, he thought it may be thunder, then concluded: “Matt (Dillon) got his man early.”

Actually, a man may have suffered a medical emergency when he traveled off the road, down a 70-yard gravel driveway and crashed his Chevy Cavalier under a wooden deck, just missing Henson’s brick home. The car went over a small embankment and was lodged under the deck, peeling back the hood and smashing the window in the 6 p.m. accident.

The unidentified man was alone in the car. He was taken to Atrium Medical Center by the Madison Twp. life squad, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. His condition was not immediately known.

The accident remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.

When Henson reached the man, he was incoherent and bleeding from the forehead and nose. When he told the driver to turn off the engine because he was afraid it may start a fire, the man didn’t respond, said Henson, 53.

If the car had hit the home with its concrete footer, the damage and injuries may have been more severe, he said.

Henson said he tried to stabilize the deck before the car was towed.
