FAIRFIELD —

Local police have released the identity of a Hamilton man killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday.

Robert D. Gilreath, 27, of Ross Twp. was the passenger in a pickup truck that reportedly crashed into the back of a semitrailer around 1:20 a.m. Sunday on Ohio 4, according to Fairfield police Sgt. Amy Mays.

Gilreath was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 2005 Chevy Colorado pickup truck — Zachary R. Kreke, 27, of Fairfield — was traveling south on Ohio 4 at Camelot Drive when he rear-ended a semitrailer also traveling southbound, Mays said.

Funeral services for Robert Gilreath are pending at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home on Millville Avenue, where a visitation will be held Thursday, said Robert’s brother Ryan Gilreath

“He was a very loved person; a lot of fun to be around and he tried to bring joy and laughter to everyone,” Ryan Gilreath said. “We’ve got a big extended family and (Robert) was very involved and loved in Hamilton.”

After being treated at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Kreke was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide upon his release, according to police. The driver of the semitrailer — Robert Harding, 47, of Yellow Springs — was not injured in the crash.

Mays said alcohol is considered a factor in the crash.

Kreke is scheduled to appear in Fairfield Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
