FAIRFIELD TWP. —

The funeral for Maxwell King, the Fairfield Freshman School student who died suddenly this week, will be Sunday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. at Community Christian Church, 3401 Millikin Road in Fairfield Twp., according to Fairfield City Schools’ Facebook page.

King, 14, collapsed after playing a recreational basketball game Monday. He was transported to Cincinnati Childrens Hospital, where he died Tuesday. School officials have said the honor roll student had shown no outward sign of health problems.

Students will also hold a vigil for King at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield East Elementary School on 6711 Morris Road. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple and gold, the colors of King’s favorite basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
