Sometime in the next few months, a new Family Dollar store will open in the Rossville Historic District.

Bryn Winburn, public relations manager for the North Carolina-based company said the store at 130 Main St. would be average-sized at more than 8,000 square-feet and will feature everyday basic necessity items for customers such as various grocery items, bread, milk, auto supplies, pet food, clothing, and other items for the home.

Winburn said the company’s “real estate team used a sophisticated software system to identify the best site for the new store.”

“It’s a really good location,” she said. “We’re really excited about the new store.”

She said the store would employ about eight to 10 people.

Winburn there are no closings planned when the new store is completed this year.

“We’re a neighborhood store and it’s not uncommon to have other stores located a few miles away,” she said.

Winburn said an announcement would come in the next few months for people interested in applying for positions at new store.

Ken Rivera, Hamilton construction administrator, said a building permit for the new store was issued in September and the value of the new 8,320 square-foot structure was listed at $700,000.

The building that formerly housed an unemployment bureau office at that location was demolished last month.

Family Dollar currently operates stores three stores in Hamilton as well as stores in Fairfield, New Miami, Monroe, Middletown and Lebanon.
