WEST CHESTER TWP. — Three arrests were made after the discovery Tuesday night of a home methamphetamine manufacturing operation, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies searched the residence and storage structures at 6801 Hamilton-Mason Road after an investigation by the county’s Regional Narcotics Task Force, according to the sheriff’s office. During a traffic stop outside the home about 8 p.m., authorities said they found drug paraphernalia.

The two men inside the vehicle — Danny R. Burke, 58, of the Hamilton-Mason Road address and Michael S. Murray, 33, of Scott Road in Oxford — were in possession of materials common to meth lab activity, including cooking fuel and ice packs, according to the sheriff’s office.

“This has been an ongoing investigation and they were followed to see if they were picking up byproducts,” said Lt. Mike Craft. “It puts everyone in your household in danger and neighbors.”

Inside the Hamilton-Mason Road home of Burke and his wife, Victoria, 57, deputies said they recovered all the elements of a full meth lab operation.

The vehicle was seized as well as an unknown amount of meth, Craft said.

Murray and Danny Burke are in the Butler County Jail charged with illegal manufacture of drugs and illegal possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs. both felonies. Murray also is charged with a misdemeanor for driving under a suspended license. The men remained in jail Thursday, under bonds of $25,125 for Burke and $40,145 for Murray, according to the jail's online records.

Victoria Burke was being held on felony charges of possession of drugs and permitting drug abuse, but on Thursday was not listed as an inmate.

The West Chester Fire Department’s hazardous materials team and the Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigations assisted in the removal of the potentially volatile materials. Cleanup lasted until 2 a.m. Wednesday. Additional charges are possible, according to the sheriff’s office.
