FAIRFIELD —

A man died Monday after a police chase that began in Hamilton County and ended 57 seconds later with a crash in Butler County.

Pursuit of Aaron Williams, 32, began at 11:20 a.m. on Pippin Road just south of Houston Road in Colerain Twp. after Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a 2003 Toyota Solara for a window-tint violation, according to the sheriff’s office.

Instead of stopping, Williams sped off at high speed, briefly losing control just south of West Kemper Road before running a red light at that intersection. At Pippin and John Gray roads in Fairfield, the vehicle veered off the the north side of John Gray Road, where it struck a fence and a tree, police said.

The pursuit covered 2.8 miles with speeds in excess of 60 mph.

Williams, who was not wearing a seat belt, had 13 active license suspensions, police said. Approximately 300 grams of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit.
