Convicted child rapist sentenced to 14 years

A Butler County judge said a convicted rapist has shown absolutely no remorse, so he sentenced him on Monday to 14 years in prison.

Donald Lamb, 55, of Hamilton, was found guilty on multiple counts of rape, gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The conviction stems from the rapes of two teenage girls in 2008 and 2011.

Visiting Judge H.J. Bressler presided over the trial in May and said Lamb originally denied committing the crimes, then at trial Lamb said he was sorry. Bressler said now the pre-sentence investigation showed Lamb is saying the girls accused him of rape after he refused to take them to New York.

“There are a number of factors in this case and one that jumps out at me is there is absolutely no genuine remorse displayed in this case, zero...,” he said. “There is absolutely no indication of any understanding of the harm that was done to these two young women, there is no understanding of taking responsibility. There is no remorse at all.”

Lamb didn’t say a word when the judge gave him an opportunity to speak at the hearing. His attorney Tamara Sack didn’t have much to say then either, except her client does not have a history of any serious crimes.. After the hearing, she said this was a tough case.

“It was a very sad case and I certainly hope, from the bottom of my heart, that the victims can be restored to a life of normalcy and have normal, happy relationship,” she said. “This was very unfortunate and these are two of the bravest victims I have ever heard testify.”

The victims were not at the sentencing hearing.

Once he is released from prison, Lamb will be on post release control for five years and must register as a Tier III sex offender every 90 days.
