The co-owner of two Butler County companies is looking to assist those in need — no matter how dire their circumstance.
Dry Patrol and Old School Construction provide expertise in all emergency services including water, fire, wind, mold, biohazard clean up, carpet cleaning and floor maintenance, plus structural damage assessment, which includes repair-versus-replacement cost, structural drying and debris removal.
“As Sandy Michel from our construction division would say ‘We can do everything from hang a gutter to building a church and see that the carpets are cleaned in time for Sunday service,’” said co-owner Derron Oakley, who handles all day-to-day operations for both companies.
Located at 8772 Thomas Road in Madison Twp., the two companies serve Butler, Warren, Hamilton, Preble and Montgomery counties. They also have sent employees out of state to help people stranded in the wake of major catastrophes, Oakley said.
The two companies’ biggest selling point is servicing customers in whatever capacity is needed, especially emergency service, he said.
“We have serviced everything including wind-damaged roofs and flooded hotels, and also had the privilege to service our great military personnel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base,” Oakley said. “Our largest customer base comes from the local communities.”
To drum up that business, the companies have worked with Middletown, Franklin and Springboro chambers of commerce, insurance agencies and community partners to promote their services, he said.
When Oakley first opened Dry Patrol in 2007, it only offered emergency services related to water and mold mitigation. Today, there is no job too big or too small for the the companies’ knowledgeable crews, he said.
Purchasing Old School Construction in the middle of this year meant becoming a full-service company that can handle any job from start to finish, Oakley said.
“With the combined expertise of both divisions we are able to provide over 35-plus years of knowledge and experience, which provides each customer with peace of mind that the job has been completed and has exceeded customer expectations,” he said.
The company’s foremost challenge in these turbulent economic times is the cost of operating a business while remaining competitive and quality minded due to the rising cost of services and resources.
“It’s always a challenge to remain fiscally responsible in today’s industry,” Oakley said.
Goals for both companies for the near future include working on increasing the awareness of services and brand recognition.
“On a larger scale, we are working on franchising DryPatrol nationwide,” Oakley said. “We’re constantly on the move campaigning and searching for prospective business owners.”
Dry Patrol and Old School Construction recently added to their knowledge base by adding a master restorer to its roster of skilled technicians.
Over the next five years, the main goal for both companies is to maintain a pattern of year-after-year growth, Oakley said.
“We feel a steady and strong business model will prevail,” he said.
