There are no raises in the latest tentative bargaining agreement between the city of Hamilton and one of its labor unions.
In a report to Hamilton City Council, Assistant Law Director Letitia S. Block reported that AFSCME Local 475, which represents the city’s 40 streets, parks and sewer department workers, has ratified a tentative agreement. The city and the union have been negotiating since the previous contract expired Jan. 14, 2012.
If City Council approves the tentative agreement, the contract would run through Jan. 14, 2015, according to Block’s report.
The highlights of of the tentative agreement include:
Block said the fiscal impact of the agreement has not been completed and noted that only one employee is funded through the General Fund, while the rest are compensated through other funding sources.
At its Feb. 27 meeting, City Council approved a new contract with its clerical and technical workers represented by AFSCME Local 3169, which represents about 50 employees. The new pact will expire on July 9, 2014.
That agreement also had a zero wage increase, suspension of various incentive programs and changes to the health insurance language. It also provides a lump sum payment of $1,000 by July 13, 2013, the staff report said.
