Alleged burglar arrested

By Ed Richter

A man believed to have been involved in a rash of burglaries this year was arrested by Hamilton police detectives today.

Jacob Aaron Colin, 20, of 19 N. Seventh St., was charged with a burglary, a second-degree felony, that occurred in February 2012 in the 1200 block of Dayton Street. Colin was arrested at 9:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Ninth Street.

In the February burglary, Colin allegedly forced his way into a residence in the 1200 block of Dayton Street by pushing on an outside window. Once inside the residence, Colin allegedly took several electronic items and a handbag that belonged to the victim, according to the police report.

Detective Rich Burkhardt, police spokesman, said detectives are sorting through collected evidence from a number of burglaries in the city that occurred during the past several months.

Colin is expected to appear Tuesday morning in Hamilton Municipal Court. No bond has been set and he has not been booked into the Butler County Jail as of 2 p.m. Monday
