Crazy Bowls & Wraps, a restaurant chain with a menu that focuses on fresh, sustainable, healthy food, plans to open four Cincinnati-area locations, including one at 8250 Arbor Square Drive in Deerfield Twp. next week.

A St. Louis start-up serving up fresh, fast, bowls, wraps and salads for two decades is set to open a new location in Warren County.

Located at 8250 Arbor Square Dr. in Deerfield Twp., the new Crazy Bowls & Wraps location is the second of four planned restaurants in the Greater Cincinnati area.

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The restaurant boasts it was “committed to clean eating long before it was a buzzword in the restaurant industry,” featuring kale on the menu “long before kale was cool,” and serving quinoa long before the often mispronounced grain appeared on grocery store shelves.

The fast-casual restaurant focuses on sustainable, healthy food made from minimally processed ingredients, such as fresh vegetables and organic grains, among others.

Its menu uses a build-your-own concept: Choose your vessel (bowl, wrap or salad), choose your grain (brown or jasmine rice, organic quinoa or non-grain: spiral-cut carrots and zucchini), choose a protein (grilled or crunchy antibiotic-free chicken, organic tofu or wild Alaskan salmon) and top it with specialty house-made sauces and seasonal vegetables.

Founded by Gail and Keith Kitsis in 1994 in the St. Louis area, Crazy Bowls & Wraps operates 16 stores in three markets: Missouri, Illinois and Ohio.

“We’re committed to doing our part to create healthy, strong communities and believe that good starts ‘from the ground up’ with minimally processed, quality ingredients,” Keith Kitsis said. “We’re excited to provide a healthy alternative to fast food and traditional catering.”

Crazy Bowls & Wraps recently unveiled its summer menu, featuring a new Mediterranean Watermelon Salad, made with mixed greens, mint, watermelon, red onion, feta, olive oil and fresh lime juice.

Ohio is only the fourth state for the fast-casual chain opened its first Ohio location last December at 9525 Kenwood Road in Blue Ash. The company said it is looking at additional locations in Anderson Twp. and Hyde Park.

Hours of the new location will be 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.crazybowlsandwraps.com.
