One of world’s tiniest babies celebrates milestone

After spending 307 days in the hospital, a baby boy is finally strong enough to go home.

Nathan Teply was born just 24 weeks into his mother’s pregnancy in Papillion, Nebraska. Weighing just 14.99 ounces, Nathan had a long road ahead of him.

Now, nearly one year later, he has beat all odds and is finally at home with his family.

"From the minute I saw his first ultrasound I knew he was going to be a fighter. He had his hands up to his face in the ultrasound like he was fighting, he had his fists up," mom Mary Teply told WOWT.

Nathan now weighs 15 pounds, 12 ounces. He still has several health problems, but his parents are hopeful to get him off all machines within a year.

For now, they are cherishing their time at home.

“It’s been amazing,” Teply said. “After 10 months it’s so good to finally be home.”
