When one of the eagles flew away, the female eagle fell into the drain. After about 90 minutes, the 5-year-old eagle was rescued.
"She's got a lot of energy right now, which is great," Goldman told WFTV Friday. "Last night, she was still a little stunned, but she seemed to have come out of that state of shock."
The eagle’s caregivers said that due to its puncture wounds, the animal has accumulated fluid around her heart and lung.
The eagle has been moved to a veterinary hospital in order to provide intensive care. Caretakers said they are hopeful for recovery, but it is still too early to tell.
Caretakers said the eagle is in critical condition due to the severity of injuries she suffered in the fall, but it’s still unknown exactly what’s wrong.
