DOVER, Del. — A federal judge in Delaware has ordered a former DuPont Co. engineer charged with conspiring to steal trade secrets from the company released on bond.

Robert Maegerle (muh-GURL) is out on $100,000 unsecured bond. He was ordered to appear March 1 before a federal judge in San Francisco, where prosecutors unsealed an indictment Wednesday in a long-running trade secrets case.

Prosecutors say a company owned by the Chinese government conspired with a California couple to steal trade secrets regarding titanium dioxide manufacturing. The indictment claims that the couple secured trade secrets from former DuPont employees, including Maegerle, then sold them to a government-owned steel manufacturer in China.

Maegerle declined to comment on the case Friday. He would only say he would enter his plea at next month's court appearance.
