CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan prosecutors say two women have been ordered to appear in court for allegedly posing children with assault rifles during a public event organized by an armed group that supports President Hugo Chavez.

Friday's announcement comes a day after Chavez said he had ordered an investigation into the Jan. 23 incident.

In a photograph widely circulated on the Internet, several children appeared holding guns with their faces covered by bandannas during the rally organized by the pro-Chavez group La Piedrita.

The Public Ministry says Jacqueline Olivo and Dalmanis Milano face possible charges and are to appear in court Feb. 17.

Venezuelan law calls for prison terms of one to five years for adults who provide weapons to children.
