More math, reading help coming to Butler County students

Kumon Math & Reading Center is set to open in April at 5434 Liberty Square Drive in Liberty Twp.

Located near Kroger in the Liberty Square shopping center at the corner of Ohio 4 and Liberty Fairfield Road, the business is a franchise of Kumon North America.

Kumon provides an after-school math and reading enrichment program with an individualized approach that helps children progress by ability rather than age or grade, according to owner Sonam Khandelwal.

That helps unlock the potential of each child so they can achieve more on their own, Khandelwal said.

“I am trained and certified instructor from Kumon University, which ensures to offer the best in Kumon instruction to each student,” she said. “I have a management degree, and passion to work in the education sector.”

The Kumon learning method uses an individualized approach that helps children develop a solid command of math and reading skills, Khandelwal said. Through daily practice and mastery of materials, students increase confidence, improve concentration and develop better study skills, she said.

The 1,400-square-foot center includes an instructor office, parent waiting area and classroom. It will start with three employees and potentially employ up to 12 people as enrollment grows.

Kumon has 26,000 centers in more than 40 countries and reaches more than 3 million children worldwide. It has more than 265,000 students in the United States from preschool to high school.

Open house events are scheduled for the second and fourth Saturdays of April, May and June. For more information, click here .
